🐠 The Secret World of Coral Reefs
Did you know that coral reefs are sometimes called the rainforests of the sea?
Here in Fiji, Captain PillowBelly snorkeled through bright blue lagoons and saw reefs alive with colorful fish, sea turtles, starfish, and swaying seaweed.
But reefs aren’t just pretty — they protect coastlines from storms, provide food and shelter to thousands of sea creatures, and support the local way of life.
We learned that reefs are fragile and need our help — which is why we say: “Don’t touch the coral, and always swim with care!”
🏝️ Life in a Fijian Village
Captain PillowBelly was invited to a local village where life is slower, warmer, and filled with laughter. Families cook outside, kids play barefoot in the grass, and everyone gathers for stories and songs at sunset.
We learned about meke, a traditional Fijian dance with music and costumes, and even helped prepare a lovo, a feast cooked in the ground with hot stones!
The people of Fiji taught us the meaning of community, kindness, and respect for nature — values we’ll carry with us as we sail on.
