Captain PillowBelly’s Favorite Family Adventures 🇻🇳🚲🎭
Ahoy families and little explorers!
Vietnam isn’t just a land of dragons and delicious food — it’s a magical place filled with amazing activities for kids! Whether you’re sailing through caves or watching dancing puppets on water, there’s always something exciting to do — and something yummy to eat after.
Today, Captain PillowBelly shares his top favorite things to do with children in Vietnam — and yes, he packed snacks for the journey!

🐲 1. Watch a Water Puppet Show in Hanoi
In the capital city, Hanoi, you can see puppets dance on water!
That’s right — it’s an ancient art form where puppeteers hide behind a screen and control colorful characters swimming, fishing, or fighting dragons, all on top of a watery stage.
Captain PillowBelly thought the fish puppet looked suspiciously like his lunch.
🎭 “It’s like a cartoon, but soggier!” – Captain PillowBelly
🛶 2. Sail Through Caves in Ninh Bình
Hop into a little boat and glide through the Tam Cốc caves, where towering limestone mountains rise all around you. You’ll see rice fields, goats, and sparkling water dripping from the cave roofs.
Some boat drivers even row with their feet!
Captain PillowBelly tried it — and spun in circles.

🏍️ 3. Ride in a Cyclo Around the City
What’s a cyclo? It’s a bicycle with a big comfy seat in front, perfect for touring old cities like Hanoi or Hoi An! You sit back, wave to friendly locals, and feel the breeze as you go.
Bonus: no seatbelts = more wiggle room for koalas and kids.
🌸 4. Make a Wish at the Temple of Literature
The beautiful Temple of Literature in Hanoi is peaceful, flower-filled, and perfect for making New Year wishes. Kids can write on red ribbons and tie them to the wishing tree.
Captain PillowBelly wished for “endless snacks and just one dragon ride.”

🏝️ 5. Visit a Floating Market in the Mekong Delta
In the south, the Mekong Delta is full of markets… on boats! Kids can spot floating piles of pineapples, dragon fruit, and rice cakes — all being sold and traded without ever touching land.
Captain PillowBelly’s rule: 1 snack per splash.

🛕 6. Explore Hoi An’s Magical Lantern Nights
Hoi An is a colorful town full of glowing lanterns. On certain nights, the whole old town turns off electric lights and only lanterns shine. Kids can float candle-lit wishes down the river!
It’s twinkly, quiet, and full of wonder.
🐨 PillowBelly’s Pro Tips for Kid Explorers:
- Wear light, breathable clothes (koalas overheat easily).
- Carry a small fan or cool mist spray — it gets humid!
- Try the mango smoothies (he recommends three in a row).
- Look out for friendly dogs, street parades, and snack carts with steamed buns!
