Every great bedtime story begins with a spark — a spark of imagination, curiosity, and the desire to travel far beyond the bedroom walls. That’s exactly how Captain PillowBelly was born.
We’re a travel-loving family, and like many parents, we’ve spent countless evenings curled up in bed with our children, reading stories about faraway lands, silly animals, and magical adventures. But one night, as we told our girls yet another made-up tale before bed, something clicked:
What if we created a character that travels the world — and brings children along with him, one bedtime at a time?
And so, Captain PillowBelly came to life.
🐨 Meet Captain PillowBelly
He’s a curious little koala with a pillow tucked under his captain’s jacket, a bottomless appetite for snacks and naps, and a heart full of wonder. He lives on his cozy ship, the Beluga — a wooden cog that sails from one country to the next.
But PillowBelly doesn’t just visit tourist sites. He makes friends with local children, learns their greetings, tries their food (with lots of crumbs involved), and brings home something meaningful from every stop.
From sushi in Japan to snorkeling in Mauritius, from pasta in Pisa to snowflakes in Finland — his adventures are as cozy as they are educational.

We didn’t want just another talking animal story.
We wanted something authentic, imaginative, and globally curious — a series that:
- Sparks wanderlust and curiosity about the world
- Introduces young kids to cultures, food, and languages in a fun, gentle way

We write, edit, and illustrate the stories together, often during dinner or late-night brainstorms. Our kids help pick the destinations and test the story ideas. Every detail — from the hats to the food — has been imagined and approved by tiny creative minds.
